Jimmy Kindree is an ecologically-focused writer based in western Norway. His work has appeared in Pleiades, Raritan, Ecotone, Electric Literature, The Hopkins Review, and elsewhere. He lives with his husband and daughter and, beyond writing and teaching, he knits, spins yarn, makes pottery, cheese, and bread, goes hiking, and plays the banjo.

A lupin aphid sitting on a newly formed seed, out for an evening walk. The wildflowers are changing, and now one of the most predominant ones are the meadowsweet (3rd picture). They're lovely, almost pale green, and the leaves taste like vanilla.

During October and November 2025, I had the chance to collaborate with editors at @okaydonkeymag as I developed a set of four microfictions. This was happening in the first weeks after my daughter was born, and so it was in short times when she was sleeping or when I traded off care with my husband that I worked on these.

I've been in the US for the last couple of months. Incredibly, after a years-long process, my husband and I are parents! We've got an incredible baby daughter and are learning so much about caring for a very young human. Until we return to Norway in January, we are here visiting grandparents, which is a real blessing. These photos are from a walk out through the snow with my dad, at dusk.

I've got a few days before work begins for the new school year. I took a short hike up just to "the bench" when the rain abated, and there are some cows up there! Hear their bells clanking in the video. Wildflowers... red campion, wild angelica, fireweed, and devil's bit scabious. #Norway #wildflowers

Slow morning a few days before we travel back home, writing a few poems. I have been having a hard time working on my fiction recently. I haven't been able to focus. Doing a few poems has felt more manageable. ❤️
